Exhibition 2014: Watersheds
Exhibition, this year was all about watersheds and how humans affect them in different ways. This incorporated more of chemistry and art, however we did read a book about water in humanities called A Long Walk to Water. Our team worked on two main projects. The first project was about creating a magazine on Adobe Illustrator full of interviews, infographics and information on the specific watershed my group researched. This was to provide the public with more information on watersheds whether they knew what they were or not. Below is a link to my group's magazine.
The second project was our final exhibition project that we would be presenting to the public during exhibition night. I partnered up with Gabriella Amon, and after thinking about our interests we decided to research five different habitats that are local to San Diego and one animal from each habitat. The habitats: mountains, desert, chaparral, river, and ocean. The animals: mountain lion, desert horned lizard, gray fox, arroyo toad, and the common bottlenose dolphin. Each animal was either specially protected, endangered, or commonly known. Gabriella and I researched these different animals; their diet, behavior, and life expectancy. When it came to putting together the final piece, I did all the artwork for the animals and landscapes while Gabriella watercolored the boards and wrote down all the information onto cardstock. We made a 3D type of model for our final piece. The habitats and animals stood up and so did all the information to give the public a better view of everything on the posterboard. I am happy with how our project turned out and I think it was very well done. My partner and I worked really well together. We communicated well, we equally shared the work load and we always looked at ways to improve and make our project look the best it could possibly be. If I could improve on one thing, I would have wanted to see how these animals tied into the watershed and how they affected it. However, I was overall happy with the outcome and I thought we were very successful with this project.
