Motivational speeches have inspired many people for thousands of years and have changed the world. For example, Martin Luther King's speech "I Have A Dream" motivated America to break segregation laws and allow equality between all races in the U.S. My class had to write a motivational speech from the perspective of our "It Person" and what they might've said back in their time period. My "It Person" was Anne Bonny (a female pirate) and I wrote my speech about women rights in the 1700s.
It was quite a challenge for me to write this speech. First, I misunderstood the requirements and I wrote the whole speech incorrectly before Thanksgiving break, hoping I was done. Once I got back from break, I found out that I had written it completely wrong. I wrote it from my perspective and relating it to today when it was supposed to be put back in the 1700s from Anne Bonny's perspective. After I rewrote my speech, I received lots of critique to help improve my speech, and I feel I wrote a strong speech and I am satisfied with the overall outcome.

I feel I have learned many things from this speech. I learned how to write an inspiring, motivational and moving speech that may someday help me, whether I become President or a retail worker selling products. A HOHAM I used was Perspective because I had to put myself into the position of Anne Bonny to describe something I thought she would feel, and it was interesting to write a motivational speech from her after researching our "It Person" for so long.
