The Playwright's Project is a project where students wrote a one act play about anything they want as long as it's appropriate. Before we started writing, we went to a series of plays that were written by students and acted by adults, along with our teacher Ms Carol. During Spring Break, we filled out a packet that would get our creative juices flowing and to help us develop ideas for our plays. We did a series of activities to help us think of settings and story lines when we came back to school after Spring Break. Then it was time to write our one act plays and get them critiqued by our partners. My play is called The Haunted and is about three teenagers that go to an abandoned hospital to explore. Nolan, a character in my play, convinces his two friends Wesley and Hazel to come with him into the hospital, even though they knew it was haunted. When Wesley disappears, everything changes while Hazel and Nolan are left on their own, wondering and worrying when their friend will come back. My play consists of awkwardness between teens, romance, a little bit of comedy, and suspense. The Haunted was one of the few chosen plays to be produced in the actual theater. Actors and a director were assigned to my play to bring The Haunted to life. Wesley was played by Ethan Schnepp, Nolan was played by Scot Wade and Hazel was played by Loren Cloes. It was amazing seeing my play being produced and the actors did an amazing job meeting the expectations that I had. On the other hand, I was an actor in Jacob Fikes' play called Lockdown. Lockdown is about three friends in a school lockdown trying to figure out how to live. Jordan and Brett made fun of the teacher made fun of Ms Glessin and in turn Ms Glessin came on campus with a gun to get revenge on the teenagers. Brett was played by Faris Livingstone, Jordan was played by Aaron Nguyen, and Karina was played by me. It was a great experience being an actor and I enjoyed it.
