Students Without Borders is an organization whose goal is to help those in need. Every person in class came up with an idea that can help people from a specific place in need. I chose to design some sort of water filter that could help clean filthy water in a small village in Africa. We were put into groups of three and assigned a project that one of us have created. Since many people wanted to create water filters, I wasn't able to carry out my idea. However, I was put into a group that had a great idea. My group member, Natasha Oslinger, had the idea of creating an emergency medical kit that could be given to those in need. My other group member, Scot Wade, thought to create an emergency shelter kit to give to natural disaster victims. Together, we created The Heart Bag, a emergency shelter and medical kit that can be given to the homeless, disaster victims or people who want to be prepared.
The Heart bag
"The Heart Bag is a emergency supply kit that provides a home, health, and security for those who need it. In these canvas bags, sporting a medical cross in a heart logo, is a canvas sheet, rope, first aid kit, food, and instructions on how to make a tent. These bags can support a wide verity of people, whether you're homeless, affected by a natural disaster, or just want to be prepared, The Heart Bag can help you. These bags are light weight and compact, fit one in your trunk, garage, or keep it on your back." - The Heart Bag
My role for this project was the Instructables person. My job was to create a how-to on the Instructables website to show how to make The Heart Bag. After creating a step by step process, I proofread it and had it critiqued by my group members. I worked very hard on this how-to and I think it turned out well.
