Our group was very excited to get an opportunity to work with this fabulous organization. During our time working with H2O Trash Patrol, we were assigned three projects: a pH experiment, DIY craft videos, and fundraising. The pH experiment we conducted tests the effect of trash in the ocean, seeing if it changed the pH levels of the water. We had eight jars of seawater with one control and the rest filled with different types of trash (cigarettes, balloons, plastic, etc). Every other day, we tested the pH of the water to see if it changed, and this experiment has continued to be conducted even though we finished working with H2O Trash Patrol. Our second project was to create videos showing how people can create eco-friendly items. These videos show different ways to reuse items in a fun and creative way. Our third project was to create a fundraiser cover letter for H2O Trash Patrol to send out to business and set up fundraisers.

Working with H2O Trash Patrol went hand in hand with what we learned during the Power of One project. The Power of One project was all about making a difference and helping the community in some way. H2O Trash Patrol is a dedicated organization, creating change through every marine debris clean up. While working with H2O Trash Patrol, we learned a lot more about responsibility and how to take care of our environment. We learned that marine debris affects everyone and it is very important to be aware of what we use and how we dispose of it. Through the Changemakers project, we learned that is very important to maintain a clean environment, and help the community by reducing our waste. We can all help save our Earth by working together to keep our planet cleans.
